Company Profile - The Plant Stand Company

Seattle native Bob Gillingham invented the Down Under Plant Stand® in 1995 while living in Auckland, New Zealand. His invention caught on “down under,” selling in more than 400 stores across New Zealand and Australia. In the summer of 1997 he moved his company, Plant Stand, Inc., back to Washington and has developed a network of garden distributors and retail garden centers that carry the Down Under Plant Stand across the United States and Canada.

Product Information

The Down Under Plant Stand is an adjustable “container trivet” designed to protect decks, carpets and hardwood floors from stains and rot. It stops the buildup of dirt and insects under a container and lifts pots to improve drainage and airflow.

The Down Under Plant Stand can be adjusted by simply cutting the ends of its supporting arms to the desired length. The 12-inch Down Under Plant Stand fits pots with a four- to 12-inch base and is available in four colors: terra cotta, black, clear and forest green.

Plant Stand, Inc.,launched its latest product, a 16-inch stand, in August of 2002. The new 16-inch stand can be shortened to hide beneath pots with a 10- to 16-inch base and is available in two colors: clear and terra cotta. Both sizes are made of durable, UV resistant plastic and are backed by a complete warranty.

Plant Stand, Inc.,advertises in consumer garden publications, and its public relations team works with magazines, newspapers, and television and radio stations throughout the United States to spread the word about the Down Under Plant Stand.
